Fort Point Arts Community's annual Holiday Stroll on Friday, December 5, 4pm-8pm kicks off FPAC's fabulous 3-day Holiday Sale (Dec 5, 4-8pm, Dec 6 & 7, 11am-4pm).
Artists will display their jewelry, paintings, clothing, cashmere accessories, holiday ornaments, and pottery, such as the irristible pieces by Gabrielle Schaffner shown in this photo.
For the Sale, gather in the lobby of 315 on A, where you can also enjoy drop-in holiday art and craft activities, refreshments, and the fireplace. More information: 617-423-1100.
For the Stroll, just follow the signs to local businesses and restaurants (Row34, Flour Bakery + Cafe, Fort Point Market), museums and galleries (Children's Museum, Grand Circle Gallery), art studios, and more!
You can get to Boston's Fort Point neighborhood by T on the Red Line (South Station; walk across the Summer Street Bridge).
If you come by car, you can enjoy cheap or free parking. For the Holiday Stroll, park in the Necco Garage (10 Necco St) for $5 from 3:30pm-10pm on December 5 (mention the Holiday Stroll at the parking office). For the Holiday Sale, park in Central Parking Lot on A & Binford Streets, and validate your ticket at Made in Fort Point (315 A Street) to park for free.
In case you need an extra incentive to do your holiday shopping in Back Bay on Saturday, December 6, the annual Santa Speedo Run may be just what you're looking for as 700 scantily-clad Santas complete a 1-mile jog to raise money for the Play Ball Foundation, which brings sports and team-building skills to local Boston middle-schoolers.
Runners (must be 21+) register at Lir (903 Boylston) at 10am for check-in and libations, kick off at 1pm, and make their way down Boylston to Berkeley and then back up Newbury Street and back to Lir. It's a fun event. Bring your camera!

Christmas tree lighting ceremonies in Boston in November and December signal the "official" start of the holiday season. These festive occasions are fun to attend and the lights are spectacular!
Here are exciting Holiday Lighting Ceremonies taking place in December:
- Copley Square Tree Lighting - Tuesday, December 2, 5:00pm-6:00pm - Wreaths with red bows decorate the square and the Old South Church bell tolls when the lights go on - look for appearances by Santa, the Boston Pops, and Rudolph! The Boston Public Library and Catered Affair host a story time and candy cane tea at the Fairmont Copley Plaza from 3:30-5pm (tea is free but you must make reservations - call 617-859-2282). More family fun begins at about 4:30pm with Jugglers, stilt walkers, and holiday music provided by Magic 106.7.
- Boston Common Holiday Tree Lighting - Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 4pm-8pm (lights go on at about 7:55pm), with games, prizes, a Skating Spectacular exhibition (5pm - 6pm) and more at the Frog Pond Skating Rink. This exciting event takes place near the Visitors Information Center on Tremont St and stars the special tree sent as a gift from Nova Scotia and 80+ other lighted trees throughout the Common and Boston Garden. The Mayor will be joined by Santa and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the show will close with fireworks. When the Mayor turns on the lights, the Boston holiday season officially begins!
- Commonwealth Avenue Mall - Monday, December 1 - Thousands of twinkling white lights transform this tree-filled parkway, transforming the Mall into a sparkling forest.

- Annual Lighting of the Trellis - Thousands of blue lights transform the trellis in Christopher Columbus Park
- 31 Nights of Lights at Prudential Center - Prudential Tower displays lights of a different color each night to bring awareness to non-profit organizations.

Old South Meeting House on Boston's Freedom Trail welcomes visitors on Friday, 12/5, and Saturday, 12/6, for a free Holiday Open House.
On Saturday, you can join costumed reenactors (shown in photo) for a tea and discussion about taxes in Colonial Boston at 11am, 12:30pm, and 2pm.

Menorah lighting and Hanukkah celebration takes place at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Date and time for 2014 to be announced. This family-oriented event features music, crafts, hot latkes, jelly doughnuts, chocolate gelt, dreidels, and games for children.
The Freedom Menorah Lighting will be dedicated to the memory of those who died as a result of the Boston Marathon bombings last spring.

Boston Harbor Hotel kicks off their Winter on the Wharf festivities in mid-December with the opening of their seasonal ice skating rink under the hotel's iconic arch.
The rink accommodates 75 skaters - but even if you're not on the ice, you can enjoy hot chocolate, s'mores, and cocktails at Rowes Wharf Sea Grille.
And in December, a special Skate with Santa event will give you the chance to share your holiday wish list as you skate alongside Santa to the beat of holiday music.
The rink will be open through late February, 2015.

Celebrate the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party - take on the role of a Patriot or a Loyalist as you join more than 100 reenactors to bring to life the famous tax protest that sparked a revolution.
Events begin at Old South Meeting House, where the Old South’s Tea Party Players portray Patriots such as Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock as they recreate the events of Dec. 16, 1773, when more than 5,000 colonists gathered here to voice concerns on a moonlit night.
After the debate, you can join the procession, complete with fifes and drums, down to Griffin's Wharf to the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, and watch as the tea is dumped into Boston Harbor.

Since 1971, the Christmas Revels Boston have used music and dance to explore winter solstice traditions from different cultural perspectives. The 2014 theme is the "Crystal Palace" - you'll almost feel like you're in Victorian England in 1851.
Performers include the Pinewoods Morris Men, actors Billy Meleady, Sarah deLima, Marge Dunn, Mark Jaster and Sabrina Mandell, musician/songleader David Coffin, the Cambridge Symphonic Brass Ensemble, and the Revels Chorus.
